20B/FD Conversions
For the last 25 years REC and RX7 Specialties has been one of the only outfits we know of to offer all the parts and services to complete a turn key three rotor powered FD. We not only sell every customize parts needed for this conversion but our shop services and expertise are available to help you build this 600 RWHP Demon.
Our own personal shop car had undergone its first 20B transplant in 1997. Since then, this car has evolved to being a personal street racer equipped with the latest technology suspension, brakes and drivetrain products. The latest addition to this car was fitting the engine bay with one of our site ported all aluminum 20B engines... the first of its kind known to man worldwide.
Now with the shop car back on the road again, RX7 Specialties and REC can confidently offer this same package or portions of our conversion kits to all those serious enough to do it to their cars.
20B FD Subframe Kit
Our specially designed subframe is a one-of-a-kind components which REC developed over 15 years ago which provides user-friendly installation and precision fitment.
This frame was created specifically to install a three rotor 20B engine into a third generation RX-7 without moving the location of the transmission. There is no cutting of the firewall, powerplant frame or driveshaft required when using our subframe . Our frame is made of high-grade quality steel, tig welded and finally powdered coated with a silver vein finish for a very aesthetically pleasing appearance. The special design of this frame incorporates durable mounting brackets which the power steering rack fastens to. Due to the relocation of the steering rack itself, we offer a spindle correction kit which will compensate for bump steer . Also, with the rack in a lower position, it is necessary to lengthen the stabilizer bar end links using our own customized link kit.
This frame can be purchased separately or as a three piece kit which includes the spindle correction kit and the adjustable stabilizer bar end links. Everything included in this three-piece package is easy to install and requires no welding. This is strictly a bolt on package and takes approximately 2 hours to install once your original engine is removed.
